E DON HAPPEN: Man Dies In Sidechic’s House After Lying To Wife He’s Going To Work

A 50-year-old man has died at his girlfriend’s house in Sinda District of Zambia’s Eastern Province, after reportedly leaving home under the pretext of going for farm work.

The deceased, identified as Julius Mwale, had on Saturday morning told his wife, Tasila Tembo, that he was heading out for piecework at a farm with a friend, Gezani Banda.

However, he reportedly went to his girlfriend’s residence instead.

Confirming the incident, Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Robertson Mweemba, said Mwale was later found dead in a sitting position at the house of his girlfriend, identified as Anna, in the early hours of Sunday, April 12.

According to police accounts, Mwale and his friend had gone to Anna’s residence around 6:00 p.m., where they were later joined by two other individuals. The group reportedly ate nshima before buying locally brewed alcohol, commonly known as kachasu, and began drinking.

Police said that prior to consuming the alcohol they purchased, Anna allegedly served Banda a separate drink, described as “score beer,” which he took alone.

After some time, Mwale’s friends reportedly left the house, while he chose to stay back, telling them he intended to spend the night and help guard Anna’s maize harvest.

Anna told investigators that she noticed nothing unusual until around 2:00 a.m., when she heard Mwale snoring loudly. She said attempts to wake him were unsuccessful, prompting her to alert the village headman.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police, who arrived at the scene and confirmed Mwale’s death, finding his body still seated.

His remains have since been taken to St. Francis Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
