E DON HAPPEN: Customs Officer Found Dead In Hotel After Lodging With Three Women

A senior officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, identified as Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) Lawal Tukur, has been found dead in a hotel room in Katsina metropolis after reportedly lodging with three women.

According to reports, the tragic incident occurred at Murjani Hotel in Katsina, where the deceased officer checked in with the women identified as Khadija Ali (34), Aisha Lawal (30), and Hafsat Yusuf (22).

The hotel management discovered Tukur’s lifeless body in the early hours of Wednesday, October 15, after staff noticed unusual silence from his room.

He was later confirmed dead by medical personnel at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina, where his remains were deposited for autopsy.

Details of the Incident According to eyewitnesses and hotel staff, the deceased officer arrived at the hotel with two of the women, Khadija and Aisha, and booked a room for the night.

A third woman, Hafsat, reportedly joined them later and spent the night as well.

The next morning, one of the women allegedly raised the alarm after noticing that the officer was unresponsive.

The hotel management immediately contacted the police, who arrived at the scene to commence investigation.

Sources within the hotel revealed that empty sachets of an undisclosed substance were found in the wastebasket of the room, sparking suspicions of possible poisoning or substance abuse.

Police and Customs React

The Katsina State Police Command confirmed that an investigation had begun into the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death.

Spokesperson for the Command, while declining to disclose specific details pending forensic reports, said detectives were already questioning the three women.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has also been notified of the development.

Senior officers at the Katsina Command described the death as a “painful loss” but urged the public to avoid speculation until official findings are released.

A police source said, “We are awaiting the outcome of the autopsy from the Federal Medical Centre. Toxicology and histology tests will determine whether the death was natural, accidental, or induced.”
