In the heart of Jos, Plateau’s capital, medical personnel are fighting desperately to save the life of Hon. Christopher Audu, the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman for Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, who was brutally attacked by delegates during a chaotic primary election.
According to reports from Daily Trust, the election, held on Thursday, took a violent turn shortly after Audu was declared the winner.
Michael Bulus, an observer at the scene, revealed that what started as a peaceful exercise quickly spiraled into chaos. “Some delegates and PDP supporters, furious after being denied entry to the hall, stormed the venue and zeroed in on the TIC Chairman.
“They surrounded Hon. Audu and unleashed a relentless assault, accusing him of manipulating the process to secure his victory,” Bulus recounted, his voice filled with disbelief.
Allegations mounted against Audu, with claims that he deliberately chose loyalists as delegates while preventing legitimate representatives from exercising their rights.
In a frantic scramble, Hon. Audu was swiftly evacuated from Ba’ap, the headquarters of Qua’an Pan LGA, to a secure location for urgent medical treatment. His injuries were reported to be severe, a grim reflection of the mob’s rage.
In an even darker twist, the enraged delegates escalated their fury, attacking officials from the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) who were present to oversee the tumultuous election.
As tension persists, the party has remained silent, issuing no official statement regarding this shocking incident that has stained the electoral process.
