Cristiano Ronaldo's 2008 Season Voted Best Balon d'Or Of All Time

Cristiano Ronaldo has won the special Best Ballon d’Or of All Time (B.O.A.T) Award, with his legendary 2008 season voted as the greatest Ballon d’Or winning season in history.

The award was announced by the Ballon d’Or organisers on October 28, 2026, as part of a special fan-voted project pitting the greatest Ballon d’Or seasons against each other.

Results:
According to the final tally published by TNT Sports and Daily Sports Cristiano Ronaldo 2008 came first with 75% of votes.

Lionel Messi 2012 came second with 9% of the total votes casted, while Ronaldo 2017 Balon d’Or gained 6% from the poll.

Ronaldo’s 2008 season remains iconic:
– Age 23 at Manchester United
– 42 goals in all competitions
– Premier League Golden Shoe (31 goals)
– Premier League + Champions League double
– Scored in the UCL final vs Chelsea
– Won his first Ballon d’Or with 446 points, ahead of Messi (281) and Fernando Torres (179)

Important Clarification:
This B.O.A.T award is a PAID FAN POLL, not an official new Ballon d’Or trophy. Each vote cost €1 and fans could vote multiple times. It does not change the official Ballon d’Or records — Messi still holds the record with 8 Ballon d’Ors, Ronaldo has 5.

The organisers confirmed Ronaldo had a commanding lead from their October 20th update, but the final result was only confirmed today.

Ronaldo beat Messi in this fan vote, but both legends dominated the top 12 spots, with each of their winning years treated as separate entries.

Is this the greatest Ballon d’Or season ever for you, 2008 CR7 or 2012 Messi?
