Media personality Ms DSF has shared her unpopular opinion on having children without the financial means to cater for them, saying it is unfair to the children, their families and the parents themselves.
Speaking during a conversation with the interviewers of the My Unpopular Opinion podcast, Ms DSF said, “My unpopular opinion is broke people shouldn’t have kids. I don’t think it’s fair to the children. It’s not fair to the family. It’s not fair to yourself.”
She cited her cousin, who has five children, as an example, questioning why she continued having children despite struggling financially.
“I have a cousin that has five kids, and she’s been broke since she had the first one. Why do you have five? Every other week it’s, ‘Oh, can I have money for school fees? I don’t have money to feed this one.’ I think it’s so unfair, with no means to sustain them. I just think it’s really unfair,” she said.
However, one of the interviewers argued that some successful people emerged from difficult circumstances, saying, “Some of the great people we have that have accomplished great things, we wouldn’t have those people if they wasn’t birthed into a struggle.”
Responding, Ms DSF questioned why parents would want their children to experience the same hardship they endured.

The interviewer maintained that struggles could make people stronger and contribute to their success, saying, “I feel like struggle, when you have to go through certain things, it makes you into something special.”
The interviewer also challenged the idea that hardship was necessary for success, describing it as “struggle porn” and arguing that not everyone born into poverty would become successful.
