BREAKING: Police Summon APC’s Senator, Fadahunsi, Over Viral ‘K¡ll Accord’ Remarks

The Osun State Police Command has summoned Francis Fadahunsi, the senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, over his viral remarks allegedly directing supporters to “kill” members of the Accord Party.

The invitation follows widespread outrage on social media over the senator’s comments, in which he allegedly instructed All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party if they encountered them during the electoral process in parts of the state.

In a letter dated August 11, 2026, the police asked Fadahunsi to “clarify the circumstances” surrounding the remarks allegedly made during an APC campaign in Ilesa on Tuesday.

The letter, signed by Samuel Etaifo Erale, the commissioner of police elections in Osun State, directed Fadahunsi to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 12.

“The invitation is premised on information in possession of the Nigeria Police alleging that during your address at the aforementioned programme, you made statements considered to be threatening, inciting and intimidating in nature, and the statement has already been in circulation on various electronic and social media platforms,” the document reads.

A video circulated on X on Tuesday showed the APC senator speaking in Yoruba and allegedly calling on his supporters to attack members of the Accord Party.

“From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too,” Fadahunsi had said.

Fadahunsi’s team, however, said the senator’s viral remark was “a call on supporters to overwhelmingly reject the Accord Party at the ballot box through lawful, peaceful and democratic means during the August 15 governorship election”.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Senator’s statement was purely political and metaphorical,” his team said in a statement titled “Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence”.
