The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the release of the State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Mr Moyowa Adejoorin, who was arrested following a shooting incident at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Ilesa.
Adejoorin was arrested following the shooting at the APC rally on Saturday, during which four persons were reportedly injured, including a teenager, Tobi Ilesanmi.
The police spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said Adejoorin was arrested after the scene was cordoned off, adding that his vehicle was stopped at the scene with an Amotekun personnel who was allegedly involved in the shooting.
Ojelabi said, “Immediately the incident was reported, our personnel moved to the scene and cordoned off the area before some exhibits were recovered, which included expended cartridges and Amotekun personnel caps.
“Also, Mr Adejoorin was arrested at the scene and taken to the command for questioning as part of the investigation process.”
However, a video surfaced on social media on Sunday showing the commissioner leaving the police command.
Speaking with Vanguard, Ojelabi confirmed that Adejoorin had been released but said he could not provide an update on the Amotekun personnel arrested alongside him.
“It is true that the commissioner has been released on bail today, but I am yet to clear the situation with the Amotekun personnel arrested with him,” he said.
