BREAKING: Oyo Govt Declares 16-hour Curfew In 10 Local Government Areas

Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde has approved the declaration of a 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas of the state.

According to a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, the curfew takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

The curfew, which is between 4PM and 8 AM, and lasts for 48 hours in the first instance, affects local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park.

The affected local government areas are:
Oriire (Headquarters: Ikoyi-Ile)
Orelope (Headquarters: Igboho)

Irepo (Headquarters: Kisi)
Saki West (Headquarters: Saki)
Saki East (Headquarters: Ago-Amodu)
Atisbo (Headquarters: Tede / Ago-Are)

Itesiwaju (Headquarters: Otu)
Iseyin (Headquarters: Iseyin)
Olorunsogo (Headquarters: Igbeti)
Atiba (Headquarters: Offa-Meta, Oyo)

In another development, GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the Oyo State Police Command has described as misleading information circulating on social media alleging that abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Ahoro-Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been moved to Kaduna State via helicopter.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, stated this on Tuesday in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Ayanlade said the content of the video is entirely false, unverified, misleading, and devoid of any factual basis, adding that the claim lacked credibility, substance, and the requisite threshold of authenticity expected of information relating to such a sensitive security matter. READ MORE
