The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released its final list of candidates for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket headed by Hon. Ladi Adebutu is conspicuously missing.
According to the official document published by INEC on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Adebutu and his running mate do not appear among the cleared governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the state.
The list features candidates from parties including Accord (A), AA, ADC, ADP, APC, APM, APP, BP, NDP, NNPP, NRM, SDP, and YPP.
The APC’s Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) is listed as the party’s governorship candidate, with Kudirat Abiodun Balogun as his running mate.
Other notable names include Jimi Adebisi Lawal of the ADC (marked with a court order notation) and several others from smaller parties.
The development comes amid earlier controversies surrounding Adebutu’s eligibility. In late September 2026, groups such as the Ogun Democratic Accountability Forum (ODAF) and Elections Integrity Watch alleged that Adebutu’s name was absent from the PDP membership register submitted to INEC, raising questions under Section 77 of the Electoral Act 2026.

INEC had scheduled the publication of the final list of governorship and State House of Assembly candidates for October 10, 2026, in line with the Electoral Act.
Political parties have a 14-day window after publication to notify the Commission in writing if any of their candidates’ names are missing, supported by an affidavit from the national chairman and secretary.
As of the release of the list, no immediate official reaction from the PDP or Adebutu’s camp was available. The exclusion effectively leaves the PDP without a governorship candidate on the ballot for Ogun State unless successfully challenged through the available legal or administrative remedies.
The 2027 governorship election is scheduled for February 6, 2027.
