Boyfriend St@bs Uniport Final Year Law Student To Death

A 21-year-old final-year law student of the University of Port Harcourt, identified as Habibatu Aruwa, was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Warri, Delta.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Adedamola Michael Oyewole, has been arrested by the police after he allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times during a domestic dispute.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, disclosed this on Monday while briefing journalists in Asaba on the command’s achievements in the second quarter of the year.

According to the commissioner, the Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division, Warri, received a distress call last Thursday from a landlord, whose name was withheld, reporting that one of his tenants had allegedly murdered his girlfriend in a self-contained apartment.

Oyeniyi said the DPO immediately led a team of detectives to the scene, where Habibatu was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.

The police commissioner said the suspect confessed that an argument broke out after the deceased discovered he was married to a woman living in the United States.

“The suspect stated that their argument started when the deceased found out that he was married to a woman based in the United States of America.

“And in the process of the argument, he stabbed her on the neck, stomach and her thighs. The suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing,” Oyeniyi said.

Meanwhile, the police commissioner also announced that the driver accused of murdering his employer, Bishop Chinedu Okonkwo, on May 12, 2026, at Ibusa near Asaba, has been charged to court.

Oyeniyi said the suspect fled Delta State after the incident but was arrested by operatives of the Anambra State Police Command at Akwuzu on May 13 while attempting to sell the bishop’s Toyota Land Cruiser.

According to him, the Anambra command carried out preliminary investigations before handing the suspect over to the Delta State Police Command for further investigation.

The commissioner added that investigations revealed the suspect had previously been employed by a company in Rivers State, where he allegedly stole and sold a 2016 model Toyota Corolla before disappearing.

“The suspect has been charged to court for the case of suspected murder,” Oyeniyi said.
