The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a domestic staff member over the gruesome murder of Bishop Clarence Chinedu Okonkwo of the End-Reconciliation Ministry, who was killed in his residence in Ibuso, Asaba, Delta State.
Reports indicate that the Bishop was attacked inside his home yesterday by his driver, identified as Uchenna Nicholas Obiagwu, who allegedly struck him with a pestle before fleeing the scene with his Toyota Land Cruiser SUV, mobile phones, and other valuables.
Following the incident, the suspect reportedly attempted to dispose of the stolen vehicle.
However, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu tracked him down through intelligence-led operations and arrested him in Onitsha this morning, alongside an accomplice, while they were allegedly trying to sell the SUV for N10 million.
Police confirmed that both suspects are currently in custody, while the stolen vehicle and other recovered items have been secured as exhibits.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said: “The stolen Prado Jeep has been recovered, and the suspects are in custody for further interrogation.”
He added that investigations are ongoing to uncover other members of the criminal gang and determine the full circumstances surrounding the murder.
