More than 40 armed bandits have reportedly been killed in a violent clash between rival factions in the eastern Mada axis of Zamfara State, with a younger brother of notorious bandit leader Ado Allero among those said to have died.
According to a report by conflict reporter and counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama on Friday, the deceased relative was identified as “Senator”.
The clash reportedly involved armed members of rival factions operating in the area, where tensions within bandit networks have continued to fuel violent confrontations.
Preliminary accounts put the death toll at more than 40 fighters, but details about the identities of the other casualties and the extent of the fighting remain unavailable.
Senator’s reported death could affect the network linked to Ado Allero, a prominent bandit leader operating in north-western Nigeria.
Disputes over territorial control, leadership disagreements and competition for resources have contributed to tensions among criminal groups operating across parts of the North-West.
