Russia has strongly criticised the recent attacks on Iran by the United States and its ally, Israel.
In a statement, Russia’s Foreign Ministry condemned what it described as increasing military strikes on Iranian territory.
According to reports by ABC News, Russia called the attacks “a pre-planned and unprovoked act of armed aggression” against a sovereign member of the United Nations. Moscow also called for an immediate stop to the fighting and urged all sides to return to diplomatic talks.
The Russian government accused Washington and Tel Aviv of using concerns about Iran’s nuclear programme as an excuse to push for regime change.
It warned that continued attacks could lead to serious humanitarian, economic, and even environmental disasters in the region.
