The Federal Government, in collaboration with Siemens Energy and the German development agency, GIZ, has opened applications for free Solar Photovoltaic Installation Training for professionals, technicians and young people interested in careers in the renewable energy sector.
The training is being offered under the Siemens Energy Education and Development project, known as SEED, and supported by the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, a technical assistance programme co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and implemented by GIZ.
According to a notice posted by FGN Power Company on its X handle on Wednesday, the training will combine theoretical instruction, hands-on practical sessions, technical site visits and competency assessments.
Participants who complete the programme will also receive COREN certification.
βThe programme is open to applicants with practical experience as well as those without formal education or prior practical experience.
βRecent graduates with National Diploma, Higher National Diploma or undergraduate qualifications, young professionals in relevant fields and people passionate about renewable energy are also encouraged to apply,β the notice read.
However, applicants are required to be available to attend the three-week training in person.
How To Apply
Interested applicants are required to complete the online Expression of Interest form before 4pm on Friday, September 18, 2026.
Applicants are required to provide their full name, gender, phone number, email address and preferred training location.
They will also be asked to indicate whether they can attend the three-week training in person from September 2026.
Applicants are required to provide information about their educational and professional background, including their highest level of education, employment status, work experience and sector of employment.
Those with formal educational backgrounds are required to upload their most recent CV and degree certificates or other relevant qualifications and certificates.
The training will be held at centres in Lagos and Abeokuta, Ogun State, with each stream lasting three weeks onsite.
The organisers stated that training and certification would be provided free of charge, while meals would be provided on training days.
They added that accommodation and transportation would not be provided during the training.
