Men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, have arrested four suspected terrorists linked to a series of violent crimes and insecurity across the state over the past eight months.
The State Commander of Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Akure, said the suspects were apprehended following intelligence-driven operations carried out by its operatives in collaboration with other security agencies.
According to Amotekun boss, the arrested gang was allegedly involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, and destruction of property in different parts of the state.

Adeleye disclosed that the gang leader, who reportedly received directives from outside the state, was captured during what the commander described as a fierce operation.
He added that the group’s supply network had also been dismantled, while additional members of the syndicate were arrested during the crackdown.
He explained that due to the sensitive nature of the case, the suspects had been transferred to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further interrogation and possible prosecution.
He, however, confirmed that the four suspected terrorists had confessed to several criminal operations allegedly responsible for the instability witnessed in Ondo State in recent months.
“They confessed to having commenced the operation, and the result of their operation is the instability that the state witnessed in the last eight months,” he said
He declined to provide further details on the suspects’ activities, citing the sensitive nature of ongoing investigations by the DSS.
Adeleye said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to restore security and reassure residents that criminal enclaves discovered in forest areas had been dismantled.
He noted that Ondo State’s vast forest belts, which stretch across six local government areas and border three neighbouring states, had posed major security challenges.
He said a joint security operation involving the police, army, DSS, Amotekun, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had intensified clearance operations in the forests to flush out criminal elements.
The Amotekun Commander also revealed a shift in strategy from merely arresting suspects to ensuring their prosecution, disclosing that within the last month, case files involving about 142 suspects had been concluded and transferred to courts of competent jurisdiction.
Adeleye said the suspects are facing charges ranging from kidnapping and anti-grazing violations to farmers’ clashes and cult-related offences.
He explained that 64 additional suspects are currently being profiled and would either face prosecution or alternative dispute resolution procedures, depending on the outcome of investigations.
