NAANES SOUTH-WEST CHAPTER PRESIDENTS DEBUNK ALLEGED ENDORSEMENT OF IFE EHINDERO, DECLARE POLITICAL NEUTRALITY
The attention of the National Association of Akoko North East Students (NAANES), South-West Zone Chapters, has been drawn to reports, claims and publications circulating on social media allegedly suggesting that Akoko North East students have endorsed Hon. Ife Ehindero for a second term.
We categorically reject and debunk this claim.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Presidents of the NAANES Chapters in the South-West Zone, representing students at the following institutions:
Lagos State University (LASU)
Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH)
University of Ibadan (UI)
Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti
Federal Polytechnic, Ede
Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State
Hereby state clearly that none of these chapters, nor their respective presidents, participated in, authorized or endorsed any political candidate, including Hon. Ife Ehindero.
We are aware that certain claims and activities are being circulated or associated with some individuals within the National Executive of the Association. We wish to make it abundantly clear that the South-West Zone Chapters and their presidents were neither consulted nor involved in any such endorsement.
Therefore, any purported endorsement should not be attributed to the NAANES South-West Chapters or presented as a collective decision of Akoko North East students.
The Association remains strictly neutral and non-partisan in political matters. No individual, group, executive member or stakeholder has the authority to present a personal political decision as the official position of the Association without proper authorization and consultation in accordance with the constitution and established procedures of NAANES.
While every student has the fundamental right to support any political candidate of their choice, such personal political choices must not be packaged, publicized or presented as the collective position of NAANES without the consent and participation of the relevant chapters and students.
We are particularly concerned about reports and claims surrounding purported political endorsements allegedly being undertaken without the knowledge, consultation or consent of students and chapter leadership. If such activities are being used as a means of soliciting or generating funds in the name of Akoko North East students, the general public is urged to exercise caution and not make any financial commitment based on such claims without proper verification and accountability.
The South-West Chapters hereby dissociate themselves completely from any unauthorized political endorsement, fundraising activity or representation of students carried out without their knowledge and consent.
NAANES IS AN ASSOCIATION OF STUDENTS, NOT A POLITICAL CAMPAIGN STRUCTURE OR A PLATFORM FOR PRIVATE FINANCIAL INTERESTS.
Our primary responsibility remains the welfare, academic advancement, unity, representation and overall development of Akoko North East students. We will not allow the name, identity and collective strength of our students to be used for political or financial purposes without proper authorization, consultation and accountability.
We therefore call on the general public, political actors, students, stakeholders and members of the media to disregard any publication, flyer, statement or social media content suggesting that the NAANES South-West Chapters have endorsed any politician.
We also call on those responsible for such unauthorized representations to immediately desist from using the name of Akoko North East students or NAANES South-West Chapters to advance political or financial interests without their consent.
Let it be placed on record:
NAANES SOUTH-WEST CHAPTERS HAVE NOT ENDORSED ANY POLITICIAN.
WE WERE NOT CONSULTED.
WE WERE NOT INVOLVED.
WE DID NOT GIVE OUR CONSENT.
WE ARE NEUTRAL.
WE ARE NON-PARTISAN.
WE SPEAK ONLY THROUGH PROPERLY AUTHORISED CHANNELS.
Any contrary information should be ignored and treated as unauthorized and as a misrepresentation of the official position of the NAANES South-West Zone Chapters.
