A video has captured former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai kissing his wife after arriving at court in Abuja, drawing attention to the moment amid his ongoing trial over the alleged unlawful interception of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu’s telephone communications.
The footage shows the former governor sharing the moment with his wife as he arrived for proceedings at the Federal High Court on Monday.
His court appearance came as Justice Joyce Abdulmalik dismissed his no-case submission in the case brought against him by the federal government.
The judge ruled that the Department of State Services (DSS) had presented sufficient evidence to require El-Rufai to enter his defence if he wished to do so.
El-Rufai, the sole defendant in the case, had filed the application after the DSS closed its case with the testimony of two witnesses.
His counsel, Akinyemi Aremu, had asked the court to rule that the prosecution failed to establish a case requiring the former governor to defend himself.

Aladedoye also maintained that the defence had failed to address Exhibit “B”, which the prosecution said contained El-Rufai’s alleged admission concerning the interception of Ribadu’s telephone communications.
The former governor is facing a five-count amended charge filed by the federal government through the DSS. The case is marked FHC/ABJ/CR/99/2026.
El-Rufai has denied the allegations.
