Nigeria has made history on the global pageantry stage as Oma Iruomachukwu Osele has been crowned Miss Continental World 2026 at the grand finale held in Ayutthaya, Thailand.
GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the 28-year-old Lagos-born beauty queen clinched the ultimate crown on Friday, October 10, 2026, during the Coronation Night of the Miss & Mister Continental World 2026 pageant, beating delegates from over 30 countries across the world.
India’s Shreeya Panda emerged as the 1st Runner-Up, while Thailand, France and Philippines completed the Top 5.
Osele’s victory was a night of total dominance for Nigeria. Before being announced as the overall winner, she had already swept two major continental awards — the Queen of Africa title, reserved for the highest-placing African delegate, and the Best National Attire Award, for her outstanding Nigerian cultural costume display.
The win did not come as a surprise to many pageant followers. In September, Osele had won the World Premiere Award after leading the global fan vote on Eventista’s 1Vote platform, finishing ahead of India’s Monica Konjengbam and Thailand’s Pornpaya Rianju. The award earned her an international media package including an AP News press release.
Osele, a Medical Scientist, entrepreneur and professional model, represented Nigeria after winning The Elite Glam Pageant Nigeria 2025.

Reacting to the victory, the EliteGlam Pageant Organisation, which holds the franchise, described her win as the culmination of a difficult journey marked by hurdles and uncertainties, saying “You didn’t just win a crown; you gave us a moment we will cherish for a lifetime.”
The historic win also coincided with another feat for Nigeria on the same night, as Nigeria’s male representative, Sambo Unwana Essien, clinched 3rd Runner-Up at Mister Continental World 2026, also winning King of King and Best National Attire awards.
Osele’s victory adds to what has been one of Nigeria’s strongest years in international pageantry, following Chidimma Adetshina’s 1st Runner-Up finish at Miss Universe 2024 and Tamunosoye Karibi-George’s Top Model Africa win at Miss World 2026.
She is expected to return to Nigeria in the coming days for a homecoming celebration.
