The Federal Government of Nigeria has raised concerns about the rising influence of foreign cultures on Nigerian children, which is mainly due to their exposure to foreign cartoons.
According to the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Onilu, children are picking up foreign behaviors through cartoons shown on TV.
Onilu also talked about how Nigeria is viewed negatively abroad because of issues like kidnapping and fraud. He said it’s important to bring back Nigeria’s good image, like it was during the time of leaders like Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
He said, “It’s sad that now we celebrate when someone does something simple like returning a lost item at the airport. Being honest should be normal for every Nigerian, but many people have lost their moral direction,” he added.
The goal of the NOA’s campaign is to improve Nigeria’s image, teach national pride, and encourage Nigerians to embrace their identity, especially when they are abr oad.
The campaign which is being launched by the NOA is directed to redefine Nigeria’s image, promote national pride, and encourage Nigerians to embrace their identity as Nigerians, especially when they are abroad.
