The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 22 suspected crossdressers in different parts of the state, following complaints from residents.
Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects were apprehended around Zoo Road, Court Road, and other neighbouring areas.
He said most of those arrested entered Kano from other states.
According to him, the suspects, comprising 10 women and 12 men, admitted to engaging in hook-up activities and drug abuse.
He added that investigations were ongoing and those found guilty would face the law.
Aminuddeen reiterated that Hisbah would not tolerate acts of immorality in Kano, adding that the board would intensify its crackdown on such practices.
In another development, GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the Hisbah Command in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State has arrested a man over allegations of maintaining an illicit relationship with his former wife, who is now married to another man.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued by the agency’s spokesperson, M. Maidoki.
According to the statement, the woman reportedly left her matrimonial home after informing her current husband that she was going to collect her mobile phone, which had been taken to a charging point. READ MORE
