Trump Is My President, Davido Defends Calling US Attention To Osun Poll

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has defended his decision to call the attention of United States President Donald Trump to the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.

Davido’s response on X on Tuesday followed a reaction from a user, @ifedayo_johnson, to his appeal to Trump over concerns surrounding the August 15 election.

The user had questioned Davido over his decision to involve the US president in the Osun election, prompting the singer to defend his right to appeal to Trump on the matter.

Davido explained that Trump is also his president, citing his American citizenship as the reason he could directly address him on issues he considered important.

He wrote, “So I can’t tweet my president again?”

Davido also called on relevant authorities to protect voters and ensure that every vote is respected, while appealing for peace, transparency and a free and fair election.
