The Social Director of the Federation of Oyo State Students’ Union (FOSSU) National Council and a proud student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Comr. Sunday Aduragbemi Oyedele, has lauded the leadership of the FOSSU MAPOLY Chapter for organizing the Amala Day 2026.
Comr. Oyedele described it as a remarkable initiative that promotes the rich cultural heritage and unity of Oyo State students.
He stated that the programme, themed “Preserving Cultural Heritage in an Era of Modernization” and “Advancing Cultural Sustainability: Pathway to Sustainable Development,” reflects the Union’s unwavering commitment to preserving Yoruba culture while inspiring younger generations to embrace their identity with pride.
He also emphasized that cultural events such as Amala Day go beyond celebrating indigenous cuisine; they serve as platforms for fostering unity, strengthening relationships among students, and promoting the values and traditions that define the people of Oyo State.

Director also extended his profound appreciation to the FOSSU National Executive Council, led by the National President, Sen. Ahmed A. Mufutau, for their steadfast support, visionary leadership, and continuous commitment to advancing the ideals of the Union across all chapters.
He further commended the President of FOSSU MAPOLY Chapter, Comr. Sen. Lukman Abdulbasit Dolapo, and the entire organizing committee for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to delivering a memorable and impactful event.
Comr. Oyedele encouraged all Oyo State students to participate actively in programmes that preserve cultural values, strengthen unity, and project the positive image of the Union.
Remarkably, Comr Oyedele also received an Award of Excellence, presented by the FOSSU National President during the event.
Reacting to the award, Oyedele said, “I accept this recognition with deep gratitude and dedicate it to everyone who has supported, encouraged, and believed in my journey of service. This award is not only a recognition of past efforts but also a reminder that greater responsibility comes with every opportunity to serve.
He concluded by wishing the organizers and participants a successful and hitch-free Amala Day celebration, expressing confidence that the event would leave lasting memories and further reinforce the cultural pride of Oyo State students.
