GBAM! Woman Rushed To Hospital After Discovering Husband Secretly Married Second Wife

A Ghanaian woman was reportedly rushed to the hospital after collapsing upon learning that her husband had secretly married a second wife without informing her.

The incident, which reportedly occurred in Ashaiman, was shared on Facebook by a woman identified as Fati Aboni in a post published on Friday, June 26, 2026.

According to Fati, the first wife was completely unaware that her husband was contracting another marriage.

She claimed that while the traditional marriage ceremony with the second wife was taking place elsewhere, the man spent the day at home with his first wife as though nothing unusual was happening.

Fati said the woman only discovered the marriage after it had already been concluded, leaving her emotionally devastated.

She alleged that the shock caused the woman to lose consciousness and she was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where she was admitted for treatment.

Commenting on the incident, Fati acknowledged that polygamy remains an accepted practice in many Muslim communities but urged men to be honest with their wives before taking another spouse.

She argued that informing the first wife in advance or at least involving respected family members to break the news gently would help reduce the emotional trauma that often accompanies such situations.News

“First wife is at the hospital on admission and second wife is home enjoying her new marriage. My dear brothers, uncles and fathers, I will plead with you on this issue,” she wrote.

“Polygamy has become part of us and it has come to stay. Most women have accepted the fact that it has come to stay.

“But we beg you, if you will add another woman as a second wife, inform your first wife either a week before the programme or, if you can’t tell her yourself, inform the heads of the family or people she respects so they can find a suitable way to break the news to her.”

She criticized men who keep such decisions secret until after the marriage has taken place, saying the first wife should not have to hear the news through rumours or third parties.

“This happened in Ashaiman. The second wife’s marriage happened last week. During the process, the man was home all day with his first wife, enjoying themselves as they usually do, yet he couldn’t inform her.

“At least he could have used that opportunity to let his wife know that he was bringing in a second wife.

“He kept quiet about it, and today the wife found out and became unconscious, so she was rushed to the hospital.”

Fati congratulated the new bride while wishing the first wife a speedy recovery.

She also advised Muslim women to understand that polygamy is permissible within Islam and to prepare themselves mentally for the possibility that their husbands may marry more than one wife.

“My fellow Muslim ladies, put it in mind that Muslim men are polygamous and you are not too special. As you are going happily, know that another one may join you.

“With that mindset, you won’t feel much pain when it happens.”
