El-Rufai Facing Difficult Bail Conditions – Emir Sanusi Reveals ICPC Requirements

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, has said former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is facing a strict bail conditions before he can be released from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

El-Rufai has been held by the ICPC since February 19.

On April 13, the ICPC took the former governor to a Kaduna high court with a revised set of nine charges related to alleged fraud and misuse of office.

But addressing journalists yesterday, the Emir said that officials asked for an emir and a high-ranking government person to guarantee El-Rufai’s release.

He said: “For example, take a look at what’s going on with my brother, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai that he is currently in custody and the conditions for his release are very tough.

“They said that both an emir and a high-ranking government official need to sign his bail.”

In another development, GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that ahead of the 2027 General Elections, the Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives on Wednesday raised serious concerns over the state of the nation, lamenting that Nigeria is “bleeding” while the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is focused on preparations for the 2027 re-election campaign.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on the state of the nation, the Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Fred Agbed (PDP–Bayelsa), said the country was “bleeding” under the weight of kidnappings, killings, judicial controversies, and economic difficulties.

The caucus accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of prioritising 2027 election politics over governance, warning that Nigeria is “on the brink” due to worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and what it described as attempts to weaken opposition parties ahead of the next general election.

Specifically, the caucus condemned the killing of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar while in captivity, describing the incident as a national disgrace and evidence of the deteriorating security situation in the country. READ MORE
