Iran Threatens Retaliation After US Seizes Cargo Ship

Iran says it is not planning to attend upcoming talks with the United States in Pakistan.

This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump asked American negotiators to travel to Pakistan, just days before a ceasefire in the Middle East is set to end.

Iran’s state media reported that the country is unhappy with the ongoing U.S. blockade of its ports.

Tensions increased further after a U.S. naval ship fired at and seized an Iranian vessel that tried to pass through the blockade.

Iran has warned it will respond. Reports say it has already sent drones toward U.S. military ships following the seizure.
Government media in Iran said there are currently no plans to join the next round of talks.

Officials also said the situation is not positive and insisted that the U.S. must lift the blockade before any negotiations can happen.

The conflict involves Iran, the United States, and Israel, and a two-week ceasefire is close to ending. The war began after surprise U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.

So far, there has only been one round of talks, held in Islamabad on April 11, but it ended without any agreement.

Trump said the U.S. has offered Iran a fair deal and hopes they accept it. However, he also warned of possible attacks on Iran’s infrastructure if no agreement is reached.

Seizure of Iranian Ship

Trump said a U.S. destroyer stopped an Iranian cargo ship named Touska after it tried to bypass the naval blockade. The ship was forced to stop after being damaged, and U.S. Marines took control of it.

He added that the ship is under U.S. sanctions due to alleged illegal activities.
Iran strongly condemned the action, calling it illegal and warning that its military will respond. Reports say Iran has already taken action by sending drones toward U.S. forces.

Strait of Hormuz Tensions
The situation has also affected the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas shipments.

Iran had briefly reopened the strait but closed it again after the U.S. continued its blockade. Iranian forces warned that any ship passing through without permission could be attacked.

The closure has disrupted global oil supply and affected markets worldwide.

– Security In Pakistan
Despite uncertainty about the talks, security has been increased in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Roads have been closed and movement restricted in preparation for possible negotiations.

The U.S. delegation is expected to arrive soon and will reportedly include top officials like Vice President JD Vance.

One major issue in the talks is Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium. The U.S. claims Iran may hand it over, but Iran has denied this, saying it will not give up its nuclear materials.
