‘I Did Not Threaten VDM, I Have No Ties With King Mitchy’, Seyi Tinubu Breaks Silence On Allegations

Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has publicly denied claims that he threatened content creator VeryDarkMan (VDM), describing the circulating allegations as false and baseless.

In a statement shared on his verified Instagram account, Tinubu clarified his interactions with social media influencer King Mitchy, insisting there was no impropriety or secret arrangement between them.

In the post, Tinubu insisted that claims suggesting any impropriety or secret meetings between him and King Mitchy were untrue. He said he met King Mitchy only once in a public setting alongside others, where he provided financial support for her nonprofit activities — similar to assistance he has given to other young Nigerians and organisations working to empower communities.

He added that a follow‑up meeting, intended to receive an update on the impact of the support provided, did not take place because he had been unwell, explaining that there was “never any private encounter, no secret arrangement, and no impropriety of any kind.”

Tinubu also expressed concern about how his name became entangled in a dispute he said he did not initiate, referring to the ongoing feud involving VeryDarkMan that has drawn significant attention online. According to him, the narrative has been used unjustly to attack his reputation.

“If my name generates attention, let us at least deal in facts,” Tinubu wrote. “Supporting charitable causes is not a crime. Meeting someone publicly to support their NGO is not a scandal. Repeating falsehoods loudly does not transform them into truth.”

He further warned against what he described as online bullying and harassment, stressing that no disagreement should escalate to threats or behaviour that could have serious mental health impacts on individuals involved.

Tinubu emphasised that his philanthropic work, particularly in education, enterprise, health and youth empowerment, has been transparent, documented and rooted in service.

Tinubu concluded by urging for responsible discourse, saying: “Nigeria needs builders, not bullies. We need responsible discourse, not sensationalism driven by speculation.”

The statement came amid heightened online activism, where VeryDarkMan had previously accused Tinubu and King Mitchy of threatening his life — claims that have not been independently verified.
