A fully loaded 33,000-litre diesel tanker overturned on Akala Expressway, Ibadan, on Friday, January 16, 2026, spilling fuel across the road and crushing a parked black Mercedes Benz GLE SUV belonging to a female driver.
The woman, who had briefly stepped away to buy food near the OPay office, returned to find her vehicle flattened under the tanker.
In the video on X, she appeared visibly shaken, calling her husband in distress and insisting the tanker driver replace her car entirely.
Despite the massive fuel spill, no fire broke out and no injuries were reported.
Social media reactions split between relief at her narrow escape and advice to prioritise personal safety over property, given Nigeria’s unreliable insurance coverage and the frequent hazards posed by overturned tankers on major roads.
