BREAKING: ADC Coalition Insists On Sacking Tinubu, Holds Closed-Door Meeting In Abuja

The African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led opposition coalition has reiterated its resolve to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, as it convened a closed-door strategic meeting in Abuja on Saturday.

The meeting, which marked the third expanded session of the National Political Consultative Group (North), took place at the Continental Hotel, Abuja, drawing key political figures from across the northern region.

Top on the agenda was the coalition’s blueprint for rescuing Nigeria from what they described as “deepening insecurity, mass poverty, and ethno-religious divisions.”

Delivering the keynote address, Protem National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, declared that the coalition’s mission is to offer a credible alternative to the current government. He blamed the region’s woes on poor governance and a betrayal of leadership ideals once championed by northern statesmen like Sir Ahmadu Bello and Malam Aminu Kano.

“Our people are suffering not for lack of resources, but for lack of leadership,” Mark said. “Banditry, insurgency, and communal clashes have turned villages into battlegrounds. The North remains the poorest region, with the highest rates of illiteracy and unemployment. We must rise and reclaim our future.”

He condemned the exploitation of ethnic and religious divisions during elections, describing it as a major obstacle to unity and progress. “The destructive weaponisation of ethnicity and religion we saw in the last election is unacceptable. This is where the ADC will make a difference. For us, politics is about service, not manipulation,” he said.

Mark also called for urgent investment in education, equitable distribution of resources, and a revival of community policing structures. “Ignorance is the biggest enemy of unity. If we treat education with levity, we will continue to reap insecurity and poverty,” he warned.

Among prominent figures in attendance were former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The meeting continued behind closed doors as of 2:20 p.m.
