Kefilwe Mabote, the South African influencer and media personality, has opened up about her journey “after finding Christ”.
In a series of Instagram posts, Mabote said she recently sought God “more than ever before” and laid her struggles at His feet.
She described how this led to a transformative experience, uncovering spiritual strongholds she said had “followed me through my bloodline”.
“I had also unknowingly opened doors to things like idolatry, horoscopes, new age practices, unforgiveness, soul ties, traditional/cultural practices, wrong crowds, certain social media campaigns, gigs and more,” she said.
“These things kept me bound without realizing it, and they were tools the enemy used to keep me in bondages.”
Mabote also shared footage wherein she burnt some of her luxury designer clothes, including items from Versace.
The reality TV star said the act was a personal conviction tied to her faith and a “part of reclaiming my spiritual freedom”.
She said giving the items away was not an option. She added that she did not want to pass on items she believed had spiritual implications.
“I have been getting questions about why I chose to burn Versace items instead of giving them away, and I want to take a moment to explain this with care and understanding,” she said.
“The decision to burn these items came from a place of conviction. According to the Bible, such things are considered “accursed” (see Joshua 7:13 for context).
“For example, the image of Medusa represents a Greek god, from the marine kingdom and as believers, we cannot serve two masters.
“To give these items away would be to pass on something I no longer stand for, and I can’t, in good conscience, transfer things that I know carry deep spiritual implications.
“This journey has taught me that the spiritual realm operates on legalities, what we allow into our lives can give access to things we may not even realize. These items were open doors, and removing them was part of reclaiming my spiritual freedom. I share this not to condemn anyone but to encourage reflection.”
The social media influencer said, “Burning the Medusa face was one of the most freeing and therapeutic things I’ve ever done.
“It was about breaking down the idols I had unknowingly built in my heart, the very things that distracted me from fully walking with Jesus.
“The next time I own something luxurious, it will simply be an item (not a reflection of my identity or my purpose). My worth is found in Christ alone.”
