Emeka Beke, the reinstated Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has confirmed that 27 lawmakers who left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join APC in December 2023 are still members of the party.
Beke made this statement while speaking to journalists after a court judgment in his favour on Monday.
He said that Martin Amaewhule and 26 other lawmakers who are loyal to Minister Nyesom Wike are valid members of APC in Rivers State.
The APC chairman also said that his party will participate in the upcoming local government election in the state.
He praised the judiciary for upholding democracy in Nigeria.
Recall that the executive led by Beke was dissolved by the APC national working committee, led by Abdullahi Ganduje, in November 2023. The committee cited anti-party activities during the general election as the reason for the dissolution.
