20 Monarchs Contract Igboho’s ‘Iru Ekun’ To Flush Out Terrorists, Others From Kwara

No fewer than 20 traditional rulers in Kwara South, who fled their thrones months ago over attacks of terrorists, have engaged the services of Sunday Igboho’s ‘Iru Ekun’ foot soldiers to flush out terrorists, bandits and other hoodlums.

Though Igboho, it was gathered, had not visited Kwara South, his ‘boys’ are already in Isanlu Isin, Isin Local Government of the state and neighbouring communities, surveying the areas to enable them to know how best to handle the security challenges.

One of the monarchs, Olowa of Owa Onire, Oba AbdulRahman Fabiyi, who relocated to Ilorin in the wake of the attacks, confirmed the development.

“Yes, l ‘m aware that Sunday Igboho’s men are in Kwara South, but they’re yet to reach my community in Owa-Onire. I visited my community six days ago, so I’m in constant touch.

“It is a welcome development and I pray that the efforts would pay off so that we can fully return to our communities,” the traditional ruler said.

Also, Coordinator, Joint Security Watch, Kwara South, Elder Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, confirmed the development.

AHe added that soldiers and his team had held security meetings with Igboho’s men.

He, however, urged the team led by one Muyiwa Adeniyi to make the rescue of abducted members of the communities his priority.

Oyin-Zubair said: “Engagement with Iru Ekun security outfit under Chief Sunday Igboho with Joint Security Watch Kwara South is a welcome development.

“I convened a meeting with the group at Isanlu-Isin, with soldiers in attendance, to give it official colour in my capacity as Coordinator, Joint Security Watch Kwara South.

“While we appreciate any genuine efforts to curb the menace and restore peace to our land, we will not condone excesses or acts of criminality that escalate insecurity in the zone.

“We are ready to provide necessary information and assistance to the group to make their job easier, provided all activities remain within legal and operational protocols.”

He noted: ‘’Our immediate concerns are the rescue of those in captivity, including the rest of the Omugo abductees and the 15 worshippers of Ikerin Church, amongst others, as well as the safe return of communities that have either been deserted or displaced.”

Adeniyi pledged to abide by the rules and work with the police, soldiers, and other security agencies to restore peace to all parts of Kwara South in particular.”
