The Concern Nigerian Youths for Good Governance (CNYGG) expresses deep outrage over the disgraceful and unacceptable delays experienced during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), where students were made to write exams as late as 9:00 PM in several centers.
This level of administrative disorder is a clear violation of the rights of Nigerian students and a threat to their mental health, safety, and academic performance. It is unimaginable that in 2025, a regional examination body like WAEC would still operate with such gross negligence and disregard for proper planning, logistics, and the welfare of candidates.
CNYGG categorically states that this incident is not just a logistical failure—it is a betrayal of public trust and a dangerous signal of systemic decay in our educational institutions.
OUR DEMANDS:
1. A formal public apology from WAEC within 7 days.
2. Immediate disclosure and explanation of the cause of delays, with details of affected centers.
3. Sanctions against officials responsible for the breakdown in exam logistics.
4. Concrete reforms to ensure this never happens again—including strict timelines, invigilation monitoring systems, and improved candidate welfare protocols.
5. Remedial actions for affected students, including possible re-assessment options or grading consideration.
OUR STAND:
Should WAEC fail to meet the above demands within 7 days from the date of this statement, CNYGG will be left with no choice but to mobilize a nationwide protest involving students, youth groups, civil society organizations, and concerned citizens to demand accountability and reforms in the education sector.
We will occupy WAEC offices across major cities until our voices are heard and tangible actions are taken.
This is not just about delayed exams—this is about the future of our children, the integrity of our education system, and the accountability of those in charge. Enough is enough.
