A heartwarming video that went viral on Friday shows Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, stepping into a classroom to teach, rekindling his roots as an educator.
In the clip, posted on his official Facebook page with the caption “Once a teacher, always a teacher,” Governor Aiyedatiwa is seen writing the word “Drugs” on the chalkboard while leading a lively, interactive lesson with students.
At one point, he engages the pupils in naming different types of drugs, prompting enthusiastic responses.
The impromptu teaching session took place at an undisclosed school and comes on the heels of the Governor’s recent education focused reforms.
In March 2025, he approved the recruitment of 1,100 primary school teachers across all 18 local government areas of the state—a major step toward revamping the sector.
The teacher recruitment drive, funded under the 2023/2024 UBEC/SUBEB intervention programme, reflects the administration’s broader commitment to raising educational standards in Ondo State.
Together with the video, the Governor also shared a detailed update on recent strides in the sector, “Today, we took a significant stride toward a brighter future for our children as we flagged off the distribution of textbooks, Android tablets, and sports equipment to public schools across Ondo State.
“This initiative, funded through the 2023/2024 UBEC/SUBEB intervention, underscores our unwavering commitment to quality education for every child, regardless of background.
“Classrooms under construction and rehabilitation in over 100 schools, Over 75,000 textbooks and digital learning resources distributed, State-of-the-art furniture and modern learning facilities provided, 2,100+ new teachers recruited, trained, and empowered, Comprehensive support for sports and extracurricular excellence
“We are laying a solid foundation for the next generation, ensuring our children have the skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
“With every book, tablet, and sports kit, we are investing in the leaders of tomorrow. Together, we will continue to advance education, empower dreams, and unlock potential.”
