VIDEO: Oriyomi Hamzat Cries As Fans Welcome Him From Agodi Prison

The owner of Agidigbo FM, a broadcasting station in Ibadan, Oriyomi Hamzat, has been granted bail and released from the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan, Oyo State.

This comes after he successfully met the conditions of his bail, following his detention in connection with a tragic incident which claimed the lives of many children.

Hamzat, along with his co-accused, including former Queen Naomi Silekunola of Ife and Abdulahi Fasasi, the principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, were remanded for their alleged involvement in the deadly stampede in Ibadan, which claimed the lives of 35 children in December 2024.

On Monday, Justice K. B. Olawoyin ruled on Hamzat’s bail application, granting bail to all suspects with a bond of ₦10 million each, along with two sureties who must present similar sums.

Following his release on Tuesday, a tearful Hamzat was warmly welcomed by a large crowd at his radio station.

Emotions ran high as the broadcaster addressed his supporters, expressing gratitude and reflecting on the harrowing events.

The case has captured widespread attention, as the community seeks answers regarding the devastating stampede that left many grieving families in its wake.

Speaking in Yoruba but now translated to English, Hamzat said: “Oriyomi is back. At this time, I am in a moment of silence. Thank you very much.”

An Oyo State High Court, sitting at Ring Road, had yesterday, granted bail to Naomi Silekunola, ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oriyomi Hazmat, CEO of Agidigbo FM and the principal of the Islamic High School, Abdulahi Fasasi on Monday.

Justice K.B. Olawoyin, presiding over Court 8, delivered the ruling after reviewing a bail application submitted by the defense counsels representing the trio.

The decision came after the defense team presented their arguments on January 7, requesting bail for their client
