The Ibadan Cultural Festival 2025 was a vibrant celebration of tradition, identity, and unity. Held at the historic Obafemi Awolowo (Liberty) Stadium, the event drew thousands of Ibadan indigenes and culture enthusiasts from across Nigeria.
The stadium was filled to capacity as attendees gathered to witness a rich display of Ibadanâs history and heritage.
One of the major highlights was the Warlordsâ Parade, where participants dressed in traditional warrior attire, reflecting the cityâs proud martial history.
The parade paid tribute to the courage and strength of Ibadanâs ancestors.
The festival which was held on Saturday, also featured an award ceremony honoring individualsâboth indigenes and non-indigenesâwho have made significant contributions to the development of Ibadan.
Among those recognised were Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, who both received awards for promoting culture, development, and unity.
Organised by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), the festival is a weeklong annual event that showcases the achievements and values of the Ibadan people.
It highlights the cityâs strong human capacity and commitment to growth.
The 2025 edition was not just a cultural eventâit was a reaffirmation of pride in Ibadanâs past, present, and future.
