Aisha Wahab, who was abducted by gunmen in Auchi, Edo State on October 18, has regained freedom after her family and supporters raised the N20 million ransom.
Activist Harrison Gwamnishu launched a social media fundraiser to secure her release, leading to her return on October 24.
The development has drawn relief and celebration online as Wahab reunites with her family.
Aisha was abducted around October 11 at Igbira Camp in Auchi, Edo State, while returning home from work.
Her captors, according to reports, demanded a ransom of N20 million, issuing a deadline by which payment must be made or else she risked being killed.
A video circulated online captured Aisha pleading for help, stating her captors had threatened her life if the ransom was not paid.
Her family, described as low-income and having limited resources, appealed publicly for assistance to raise the funds.
As At the time of filling this report, there is no official statement from the Edo State Police Command about the details of the release or confirmation of the ransom payment.
