Iran has warned the United States that it could broaden its retaliation beyond the Middle East if Washington continues military actions or crosses Tehran’s red lines, escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its response would target not just regional forces but also American and allied interests outside the Middle East and could disrupt energy supplies for years.
In a statement IRGC wrote, “Self-restraint is over. Our response will now be carried out without any consideration, depriving the U.S. and its allies of oil and gas for years.
“If the U.S. Army crosses red lines, our response will exceed the region’s boundaries.”
The development follows a strong warning from U.S. President Donald Trump, who said Iran could face overwhelming military action within hours if it fails to meet Washington’s demands.
In a post shared on Tuesday via Truth Social, Trump described the situation as a decisive moment in global history, suggesting Iran was on the brink of catastrophic consequences.
He indicated that while such an outcome would be undesirable, it remained a real possibility, adding that a change in leadership in Tehran could alter the country’s future.
The warning came after earlier remarks in which the U.S. president said Iran risked being completely wiped out in a single night if it refused to agree to a ceasefire deal.
He emphasised that Tehran must comply with U.S. conditions or face intensified strikes on critical infrastructure.
Trump also outlined key demands for any agreement, including the abandonment of Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global oil shipments.
