Tinubu Returns To Abuja After Trip To Saint Lucia, Brazil

President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Saturday night after a two-week diplomatic mission to Saint Lucia and Brazil, marking the end of his latest international engagement.

The President was received at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by top government officials, including Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Wamakko; and Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.

Tinubu departed Abuja on June 28, 2025, beginning his trip with a state visit to Saint Lucia aimed at strengthening ties with Caribbean nations and reinforcing South-South cooperation. His visit coincided with Saint Lucia’s 45th Independence Anniversary.

From there, the President travelled to Brazil on July 4 to attend the 2025 BRICS Summit, which held from July 6 to 7 in Rio de Janeiro.

The summit brought together leaders of emerging economies to discuss strategies for sustainable development and global economic reforms.

The President’s aircraft, a San Marino-registered BBJ (REG: T7-NAS), on Saturday departed Galeão International Airport at 12:50 p.m. local time (4:50 p.m. Nigerian time) en route to Nigeria.

This marks the conclusion of Tinubu’s latest two-nation tour, adding to his record of frequent international travel since assuming office in May 2023.

So far, the President has embarked on no fewer than 41 foreign trips, visiting at least 28 countries across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas.

France remains his most visited destination with six trips, followed by the United Kingdom (four times), and the United Arab Emirates (three times).

Tinubu has also visited countries such as the USA, China, India, and Saudi Arabia as part of his administration’s foreign policy thrust.

The trips span ceremonial visits, economic summits, diplomatic missions and other high-level bilateral engagements.
