The Presidency on Sunday dismissed speculation that President Bola Tinubu left the shores of the country to see doctors in France, insisting that it was a working visit.
The Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, made the clarification when he was featured as a guest on Channels Televisionβs Politics Today,
Bwala was reacting to the claim by popular activist and politician Omoyele Sowore that the Presidentβs trip to France was for medical attention.
Although his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria in βabout a fortnight,β Sowore alleged in a post on his official Facebook page that the trip was for medical care.
He wrote, βAsiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has fled Nigeria again to France, for medical care, although some liars in his office claim he is on a working visit.
βIt is troubling to know that approximately 200 million Nigerians may be repeatedly subjected to misinformation disseminated daily, and they, in turn, do nothing to liberate themselvesβ.
Reacting, Bwala defended his principal, saying there was no iota of truth in the claim.
He said, βThe presidentβs trips to France are not related to medical. Have you not seen him receiving people? I mean, there has been information about him receiving people.
βThe president did not go to see a doctor. He was on a working visit and we have been publishing his activities.β
