GISTSMATE MEDIA reports that the Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, the law firm representing Sophie Momodu, has sued Afrobeats star Davido (David Adeleke) for ₦1 billion in damages.
The lawsuit, filed by lead counsel Mrs. Ebelechukwu Enedah, follows a series of public outbursts by the singer directed at the legal team during their ongoing child custody battle over their daughter, Imade.
The legal team is demanding:
Retraction
Immediate removal of all derogatory, defamatory, and abusive social media posts directed at Mrs. Enedah on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
Public Apology
A formal written apology to be published in at least two national newspapers.
Financial Compensation
₦1 billion in damages for alleged defamation, cyberbullying, harassment, and emotional distress.
Cease and Desist
A permanent halt to any further commentary or statements regarding the lawyer or the ongoing legal matter.
Background of the Conflict
The legal action stems from a February 12, 2024, court hearing where Davido allegedly became aggressive and verbally abusive toward Mrs. Enedah after she referenced the tragic passing of his son, Ifeanyi, during cross-examination.
Following the hearing, Davido reportedly shared a photograph of the lawyer on social media, which her firm claims triggered a “calculated campaign” of online harassment, including threatening calls and messages.
During his social media outburst, Davido mistakenly identified gospel singer Tosinbee as the lawyer’s son, leading to a separate public apology to the artist.
Despite the ongoing dispute, Davido announced in mid-February 2026 that he was withdrawing his petition for joint custody, stating there was “nothing to celebrate” in the legal battle.
