A disturbing incident has been reported in Minna, Niger, where a housewife, Adiza Bala, also known as Mama Sabir, allegedly poured hot water on her co-tenant, causing serious injuries to her face and chest.
The incident occurred on August 9, 2025, at around 9:00 pm, at Peter Sarki Road in Tunga Minna.
According to the police, the altercation began two days prior when the victim’s children allegedly defecated near Mama Sabir’s room, leading to a heated argument between the two women.
Despite the issue seemingly being settled, Mama Sabir reportedly targeted the victim and poured hot water on her body.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident, stating, “On 9/8/2025 at about 9:00 pm, Mama Sabir targeted the victim within the compound and poured hot water on her body, and as a result, she sustained serious injuries on the face and the chest.”
Mama Sabir was immediately arrested, investigated, and charged to court for attempted culpable homicide and causing grievous hurt with hot water. SP Abiodun assured that justice would be served in the case.
This incident highlights the need for calm and peaceful resolution of conflicts, especially among neighbors.
The Niger State Police Command has been proactive in addressing similar cases, having arrested several suspects over thuggery, restiveness, and culpable homicide in the past.
