PHOTOS: Plateau Community Prepares Mass Burial For 27 Victims Of Deadly Attack

The bodies of 27 victims, including women and children, killed in last Tuesday’s deadly attack on a community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, are being transported from the hospital morgue back to the community for mass burial.

The victims, who sustained fatal injuries during the night assault by unidentified gunmen, had been taken to a nearby hospital for documentation and post-mortem procedures.

Reports said they are now being returned home for final rites.

The atmosphere in Riyom remains tense, as residents gather in grief to receive the remains of their loved ones.

Community members, traditional leaders, and humanitarian workers have converged to coordinate the burial and provide comfort to grieving families.

GISTSMATE MEDIA reported that not fewer than 20 persons was killed and several houses destroyed in a deadly attack by suspected Fulani gunmen in Jebu in Tahos Community of Riyom local government area of Plateau State.

Chairman and Publicity Secretary of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), Gideon Manjal and Gadu Daniel Dong, in a statement said the assailants stormed the village at about 11pm, carrying out house-to-house attack.

The statement said the attack led to the killing of innocent villagers including women, children and the aged who could not escape the rage of the assailants.
