As Washington, D.C. prepares for President Donald Trump’s second inauguration on January 20, Pastor William Kumuyi, one of Christianity’s most influential leaders, will be in attendance.
This was revealed in a statement by A. Larry Ross Communications, a U.S.-based communications outfit.
The founder and General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), Kumuyi leads one of the world’s largest churches based in Lagos, Nigeria, and is renowned for his impactful teachings and global evangelistic reach.
Kumuyi’s presence highlights the significance of religious freedom and Christian unity at a time of global spiritual shifts.
Reflecting on Trump’s leadership, Kumuyi praised Trump for his commitment to Christian values, citing his groundbreaking efforts to champion international religious freedom and support faith-based priorities during his first term.
During his visit, Kumuyi plans to engage with U.S. lawmakers, church leaders, and media representatives to discuss pivotal issues facing the global Christian community.
He has emphasised the growing prominence of the Global South, particularly Africa, Asia, and Latin America, in shaping the future of Christianity.
Kumuyi has been at the forefront of this movement, recently rallying thousands of church leaders from 120 nations to embrace 2025 as a “Year of Higher Ground” during the DCLM Global Leadership Strategy Congress.
The pastor also seeks to inspire American Christians to deepen their trust in God in practical, everyday matters, urging them to align their faith with their daily realities.
In a recent op-ed, he posed a thought-provoking question: “Why is it that we can trust God for eternity but not for today?”
Kumuyi’s remarks underline the transcendent nature of faith, which he believes unites believers worldwide.
He expressed hope that the inauguration and associated gatherings would encourage policies that safeguard religious liberty and promote the growth of Christianity across the globe.
From his beginnings as a university Math lecturer to leading a ministry that now draws 120,000 weekly worshippers in Lagos and reaches millions through global evangelistic campaigns, Kumuyi’s influence extends far beyond Nigeria.
His monthly crusades have drawn over six million attendees, with more than 730,000 individuals making faith commitments through his teachings.
Kumuyi will be available for interviews in Washington, D.C., from January 17 to 27, sharing insights into the evolving landscape of Christianity and the vital role of faith-based dialogue in shaping a more united world.
