Oyo State lawmaker, Hon. Comforter, has joined women across the world in celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD), emphasizing the importance of gender equality, women’s empowerment, and increased female representation in leadership.
In a statement released to commemorate the occasion, Hon. Comforter lauded the contributions of women in various sectors, acknowledging their resilience, hard work, and sacrifices in shaping society.
She reiterated her commitment to policies that promote women’s rights, access to education, economic opportunities, and protection against gender-based violence.
“Women are the backbone of society, and their contributions to governance, business, education, and family life cannot be overemphasized. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let us renew our commitment to breaking barriers and ensuring equal opportunities for all,” she stated.
The lawmaker also took part in a series of empowerment programs, including vocational training for women, mentorship sessions for young girls, and advocacy visits to promote policies that favour women’s development in Oyo State.
She called on the government, private sector, and civil society to collaborate in creating an enabling environment where women can thrive and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
With the 2025 IWD theme, “Accelerate Action,”and the Time is Now, Hon. Comforter urged stakeholders to foster inclusivity and support initiatives that advance women’s leadership in politics, business, and technology.
