The Southwest chapter of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS Zone D) has called for immediate reforms in issuing of the association plate numbers.
This is contained in a press release signed by NANS Zone D Coordinator, Comr. Josiah Adeyemo, Comr. Ojetola Babatunde Yussuf, General Secretary, and distributed by Comr. Tope Olugbemi, the Public Relations Officer of the association.
NANS said the association is not a cover up for any misdeeds and mischievous attitudes but an advocacy movement fighting for student rights.
The press release reads in part:
Eradication of Fake NANS Plate Numbers
The abuse of the NANS identity through the proliferation of fake vehicle plate numbers has severely damaged our reputation and must be stopped. NANS is not a cover for misconduct; it is a platform for advocacy.

Effective immediately, we are initiating a comprehensive reform of the NANS identification system. This will involve:
• Immediate Renewal: All existing NANS plate numbers will be subject to a mandatory renewal process for proper identification and verification.
• Official Verification Procedures: We will work with law enforcement agencies to establish a centralized, verifiable database of all official NANS vehicles.
• Independent Task Force: We will create an independent NANS Southwest Task Force Committee to enforce compliance with our plate number policies.
• Prosecution of Impersonators: Anyone found with a fake NANS plate number will be treated as an impersonator and handed over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.
To every Nigerian student in Southwest Zone D, we say: this is your NANS. This is your mandate. This is your movement. We call for unity, disciplined activism, and progressive engagement. Let history record that this administration restored credibility, visibility, and functionality to NANS Southwest Zone D.
