Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has assured corps members that they would soon start receiving an increased monthly allowance of N77,000.
Speaking in Abuja during the commissioning of a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance Company, Ahmed stated that arrangements for the increased allowance have been finalised.
He emphasised his commitment to the welfare and security of corps members, assuring them that by 2025 they will receive all the benefits they deserve.
Ahmed was quoted to have made the statement in a report published by Daily Trust on Tuesday.
NYSC members have been receiving N33,000 monthly despite President Bola Tinubu signing the new national minimum wage bill into law in July 2024.
The newly commissioned bus, donated by Capital Express Insurance Company, aims to address transportation challenges faced by NYSC staff.
Ahmed acknowledged the difficulties staff and corps members encounter commuting to and from their offices.
Capital Express Insurance CEO, Matthew Ogwezhi, highlighted the long-standing partnership between the company and the NYSC. He explained that the donation was part of their commitment to support the scheme, particularly amid rising fuel and transportation costs in Abuja.
