NULASS Demands Immediate Disbursement Of Bursary Funds

The National Union of Lagos State Students Union (NULASS) has expressed strong discontent over the delayed disbursement of bursary funds for the past two years. This neglect of students’ rights, the union asserts, is a violation of Lagos State’s obligations to its indigenous population.

In a strongly worded statement, NULASS pleads for immediate action from the Lagos State Government to release the funds without further delay

Indeed, the delay in the disbursement of bursary funds is a significant cause for concern among Lagos State students, particularly given Governor Babajide Sanwolu’s previous commitment to increase funding.

The rights of indigenous students to receive timely and fair disbursement of bursary funds must be respected. It is essential for the Lagos State Government to live up to its promises and fulfill its obligation to provide financial support to eligible students.

The National Union of Lagos State Students, as the governing body representing the rights and interests of Lagos State students, has been patiently waiting for a positive outcome in the disbursement of bursary and scholarship funds.

Unfortunately, after several multiple requests and efforts, the Lagos State Government has failed to deliver on its promises.

NULASS highlights the fact that despite Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s previous commitment to increase funding for bursaries and Scholarship, the funds have not been made available to eligible students. This delay in disbursement has caused great distress and frustration among the Lagos State indigenous student community.

The union maintains that the rights of indigenous students to receive timely and fair disbursement of bursary funds must be upheld, and the Lagos State Government must take swift action to fulfill its obligations.

NULASS is calling for immediate accountability and transparency from the Lagos State Scholarship and Bursary Board. The union asserts that the ongoing delay and lack of communication from the board have only served to exacerbate the situation and further erode trust between the government and the student community.
