No fewer than nine people have been reportedly killed in another attack in Yelwa village of Heipang District, Barkin Ladi LGA, Plateau State.
According to The Nation, the attack took place around 10;00pm on Tuesday as the villagers retired to the bed.
President Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM), Barr Dalyop Mwantiri, also alleged that the gunmen rustled a herd of Cattle from Yelwa village during the attack.
Nwantiri said: “It’s gathered that the attack lasted up to two hours as security forces from Sector 4 rapidly responded to avert further casualty.”
Attempts to get confirmation from security forces failed.
Last week, GISTSMATE MEDIA reported attack in the Inzon community of Fan district, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State led to the death of a 13-year-old herder, Abubakar Wada and 36 cattle.
Confirming the incident, Ibrahim Babayo, the Plateau state chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) said the young herder died from gunshot wounds while his colleagues escaped the attack.
“The incident happened in the evening. We have so far counted losses of over 80 cattle because 36 were killed while 49 are still missing. The attack was carried out by the Berom people from the Fan district,” he told media.
