The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Oyo State Axis, has observed with deep concern the increasing presence and activities of Neolife within tertiary institutions and student communities across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Council, the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adeyanju Joshua Aniyikaye, stated that Neolife, _which claims to be committed to ending poor wellness and poverty, has ironically become a contributing factor to poor wellness, academic setbacks, and loss of focus among students and youths in our society._
According to Comrade Aniyikaye, the operational realities and messaging of Neolife are grossly inconsistent with the ideals they project to the public. Reports from students indicate that Neolife activities promote a shallow and misleading mindset that devalues formal education, suggesting that academic pursuit is unnecessary for success and that Neolife represents the only viable path to achievement. This narrative is not only dangerous but fundamentally undermines the purpose of education and personal development.
Furthermore, it has been brought to the attention of NANS JCC that students and youths involved in Neolife activities are often discouraged from considering alternatives outside the organization, with claims that anything other than Neolife is unacceptable. Such ideology fosters unhealthy dependency, limits critical thinking, and restricts individual growth.
Of serious concern is the physical, mental, and academic toll this has taken on students. Many students and youths are seen roaming campuses and communities under harsh weather conditions, engaging in relentless product marketing with no clear or structured pathway to sustainable success. In the process, several neglect their academic responsibilities, career goals, and long-term aspirations in pursuit of uncertain promises.
Additionally, Neolife activities have reportedly created divisions within families, with members being encouraged to detach from family support systems and avoid dependence on relatives. This approach threatens the social and emotional stability of young people and further isolates them at a critical stage of their development.
This trend has resulted in a drastic and troubling shift in our academic and social environment, altering the educational journey of many students and disrupting the career pursuits of numerous youths. Precious time meant for learning, skill acquisition, and self-development is now being redirected toward aggressive marketing activities with no guaranteed outcomes.
In view of these concerns, NANS JCC Oyo State Axis hereby calls for the immediate suspension of all Neolife activities within tertiary institutions and student communities.
We urge school authorities, student leaders, and relevant stakeholders to take decisive action in protecting students from exploitative practices that threaten academic excellence and societal advancement.
Education remains the foundation of national development, and any activity that undermines this foundation must be critically examined and addressed.
NANS JCC Oyo State Axis remains committed to safeguarding the academic, social, and economic future of Nigerian students.
Signed,
Comrade. Adeyanju Joshua Aniyikaye
