The National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Students NANCES has given 7 days ultimatum to Federal Ministry of Education to reverse conversion of Colleges of Education to universities across the country.
NANCES stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved and signed into law the bill of dual mandate for our colleges which gave the colleges avenue to run NCE and degree concurrently.
In a letter sighted by our correspondent, the leadership of NANCES furthered that after elapsed of the ultimatum, if the ministry didn’t reverse continues conversion of Colleges of Education to universities, students from the association will embark on protest.
The letter reads:

NANCES Frown at the Conversion of our Colleges of Education to Universities, Call for Immediate Reversal as We are Warming up for a National Protest
We bring to you greetings from the intellectual tower of National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Students (NANCES).
Sir, NANCES Frown totally on the continuous conversation of our colleges of educations to Universities and call for immediate reversal.
You will recall that the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved and signed into law the bill of dual mandate for our colleges which gave the colleges avenue to run NCE and degree concurrently and as an institution saddle with responsibility of producing teachers that will shape the life of the future generations.
Sir, NANCES are on serious pressure from its members to stage a massive protest against this attempt of murdering teachers education in this country by the continuous conversation as we see no need to any conversation again with the implementation of the dual mandate which make the college to also award Degree that will be awarded after conversion but as a body that believes in dialogue, we wish to demand emphatically that:
1. Within the next 7 Days we demand Immediate reversal of the converted colleges basically Federal College of Education Zaria, Federal College of Education, Kano, Adeyemi College in Ondo, FCE Kontogora, Alvan Ikoku, Imo and others back to statu quo.
2. Immediate recall of all Pro-Chancellors and Chancellors sent to the unaccepted colleges converted.
3. All necessary respect and attention giving to other institutions of learning should accorded duly to the colleges of education.
Sir, if after the expiration of our ultimatum, nothing is been done to effect the reversal, we will be forced to stage a massive protest to drive home our demands.
